Kenneth Hahn – Pastor Rev. Kenneth Hahn has been the vacancy pastor since January, 2019.  He was born in Lincoln, Illinois to Alvin John and Hildegarde Wyneken Hahn.  He is the only boy with 4 sisters.  His last ministry before retirement was at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reseda, California from 2002 to 2008.  Prior to that he served at St. John’s Luthern Church in Oxnard, California from 1987 to 2002.  He has been working as a vacancy pastor in numerous churches since 2008.  He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972.

Where would we be without Gail? She’s been keeping things running smoothly for nearly six years now. Gail and her husband Bob are members at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church here in Downey.

We are blessed to have an extremely talented young organist. Coming from a very musical family, Aletheia is a multi-instrumentalist and leads the traditional side of our blended services, funerals,and our highly anticipated annual Christmas concert. Aletheia Teague has been serving at Messiah since 2012. Aletheia also holds a part time position as organist of her home church in Anaheim.

Richard Schmieg has been our contemporary worship leader since 2010 and through the years has served in some capacity as youth leader, elder and resident VBS puppeteer. Richard began leading worship in 2008 in CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) at CSU Fullerton, where he received his B.A. in Comparative Religions with a minor in Christian Studies in 2011. A man with many interests, Richard currently teaches Spanish full time between a high school and a middle school in Placentia and also writes and produces music of many kinds – pop/rock, Spanish educational songs as well as praise songs. Outside of church, Richard’s music has been heard around the world in radio networks, numerous TV series, a movie trailer and has been recognized publicly by actor Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings). He has been married to his wife Becky since 2016, who occasionally contributes to worship on the piano as well. They currently live in Costa Mesa. Richard has also assisted in a number of youth retreats, overnighters, and rally days at Messiah. Working with music and youth are two of the most emotive forces in his life, and Messiah has given him a place to call home and thrive.
